São João da Ribeira – Rio Maior

This traditional festival celebrates the annual São João festivities in the parish of São João da Ribeira, Rio Maior. The event program kicks off on Friday, June 19, with the opening of the festival grounds (arraial), an outdoor terrace, a local market, and a musical performance by Grupo Musical Key Love. Saturday features a charity bazaar (quermesse), a book presentation of Amor Escrito à Mão by author Joana Oliveira, live music from Grupo Musical Viró Baile, and a late-night set by DJ Lion B. Sunday highlights include morning market openings, a religious mass followed by a solemn procession in honor of São João Baptista accompanied by the Banda Filarmónica da Casa do Povo da Vila da Marmeleira, and an evening concert by Rúben Filipe. The festivities conclude on Wednesday, June 24, with a traditional midsummer night celebration (Noite de S. João) featuring a sardine and grill feast (sardinhada e grelhados) alongside live musical entertainment.
