49.ª edição da Feira do Queijo Serra da Estrela

From February 14th to 17th, the Municipality of Seia is promoting the 49th edition of the Serra da Estrela Cheese Fair, preserving the tradition of always holding it during Carnival, one of the most emblematic moments in the municipality’s cultural and economic calendar.

The event takes place at the Seia Municipal Market and its surrounding area, bringing together local producers, shepherds and cheese factories that reflect the vitality of a sector deeply rooted in the territory and with a strong impact on the national economy, establishing Seia as the largest municipality producing sheep’s cheese.

Serra da Estrela cheese is once again the event’s main attraction, accompanied by other excellent regional products such as artisanal bread, wines from Dão — the Serra da Estrela subregion, sausages, olive oil, and honey. Local crafts and Serra da Estrela wool complement the offering, enhancing authenticity and mountain identity.

The program includes four days of cultural entertainment, with a strong focus on local traditions, including Quinta do Pastor, the Serra da Estrela Dog show, and several culinary demonstrations, which enrich the visitor experience and reinforce the connection between product, territory, and culture.

The initiative is organized by the Municipality of Seia, in collaboration with the National Association of Serra da Estrela Sheep Breeders (Ancose), the League of Friends and Breeders of the Serra da Estrela Dog, Estrelacoop, the Association for the Integrated Development of the Mountain Villages Network and the Higher School of Tourism and Hospitality – IPG.
