A emblemática Corrida do Tomate, um dos eventos taurinos mais aguardados da região, volta a realizar-se no próximo dia 11 de maio, às 17h00, em Salvaterra de Magos, com uma edição especial marcada pela homenagem a José da Costa, figura incontornável do setor agrícola local e grande impulsionador desta iniciativa.
Reconhecido como um dos mais respeitados agricultores da região, José da Costa será recordado e homenageado numa cerimónia que antecederá o início da corrida, numa justa distinção pelo seu contributo inestimável para a promoção da cultura e das tradições ribatejanas.
A edição deste ano promete manter o elevado nível competitivo, com um atrativo Concurso de Ganadarias que contará com seis prestigiadas divisas: Prudêncio, Vale do Sorraia, Ribeiro Telles, Conde de Murça, Manuel Veiga e Foro do Almeida.
O cartel está igualmente recheado de talento, com a presença dos cavaleiros Marcos Bastinhas, João Ribeiro Telles e Francisco Palha, figuras de destaque da tauromaquia nacional, e dos valorosos grupos de forcados Amadores de Coruche e Amadores de Alcochete, garantindo uma tarde de grandes emoções na arena.
The emblematic Tomato Race, one of the most awaited taurine events in the region, will be held again next day 11 May at 17:00in Salvaterra de Magos, with a special edition marked by tribute to Jose da Costa, unavoidable figure of the local agricultural sector and great driver of this initiative.
Recognized as one of the most respected farmers in the region, Jose da Costa will be remembered and honored in a ceremony that will precede the start of the race, in a just distinction for his invaluable contribution to the promotion of Ribatejo culture and traditions.
This year’s edition promises to maintain the high competitive level, with a attractive Competition of Ganadarias which will feature six prestigious currencies: Prudentio, Vale do Sorraia, Ribeiro Telles, Conde de Murca, Manuel Veiga and Foro do Almeida.
The cartel is also full of talent, with the presence of the knights Marcos Bastinhas, Joao Ribeiro Telles and Francisco Palha, prominent figures of the national bullfighting, and of the valiant groups of pitchforks Amateurs of Coruche and Amateurs of Alcochete, ensuring an afternoon of great emotions in the arena.
