Luísa Sobral – Teatro Municipal da Covilhã

LUÍSA SOBRAL AT TMC~
14 February | Saturday | 9:30 pm
On Valentine’s Day, one of the most acclaimed singer-songwriters in the Portuguese music scene takes to the TMC~ stage: Luísa Sobral.
She made her debut in 2011 with The Cherry on My Cake, an album warmly received by both the public and critics. This was followed by There’s A Flower In My Bedroom (2013), featuring guests such as Jamie Cullum, António Zambujo and Mário Laginha, and later Luísa (2016), recorded in Los Angeles with producer Joe Henry (Madonna, Elvis Costello, among others).
Rosa, her fifth studio album (2018), was produced by Raul Refree (Sílvia Pérez Cruz, Rosalía, Rocío Márquez).
Lightly exploring pop territory, DanSando (2022) is Luísa Sobral’s most recent album: an intimate and personal work, yet also socially aware and engaged, bringing together brighter songs in which love is the raw material.
Her work as a composer has stood out over the years, writing for artists such as Ana Moura, António Zambujo, Sara Correia, Mayra Andrade and Sílvia Pérez Cruz, among many others. As a producer, she has collaborated with artists including Elisa Rodrigues, Joana Alegre, Luís Trigacheiro and Rogério Charraz.
In 2017, she wrote Amar Pelos Dois, performed by her brother Salvador Sobral. The sibling collaboration became an outstanding success, giving Portugal its first-ever victory at the Eurovision Song Contest.
Luísa Sobral has also created work for children, including the album Lu-Pu-I-Pi-Sa-Pa (2014), the lullaby mini-album Camomila (2021), and the books Quando a Porta Fica Aberta (2022) and O Peso das Palavras (2024). In 2025, she released her first novel, Nem Todas as Árvores Morrem de Pé.
